We have created an area in our classroom to share our global connections. We have a map that displays the countries of our backgrounds, flags that represent our countries, books and objects from around the world from soft toy animals to key rings and pens. The goal is to have something that every student in the class can connect to and be able to share with the class how it is connected to their cultural background. We have collected a number of items and the students have also brought in items from home to add. The op shop has been a great resource to collect objects from around the world.  The other grade 2 classes are also beginning to create a special area in their room.
